Rehabbing and Boxing

In the recovery process from surgery on Julie’s torn achilles, our friend Sally Peterson, who was Julie’s co-coach with Girls on the Run, and also tore her achilles, came up with the idea to try boxing.  We now go to The UFC gym in Seattle.  We are into it.  We even have the complete gear, the purple hand wraps and pink boxing gloves!  But we are no joke when it comes to us and the heavy bags, even though we might look awkward at times.  Especially one of us being in a boot!

Boxing is a great way to get your heart rate up and your frustrations out!
Julie is moving along in the rehab process and is starting to wear the boot less and less. Fierce looking pink and blue racing stripes extending up from her heel is more the look! Lori, Julie’s PT wrapped the colored tape on her achilles to help desensitize it. Progress is on the way!

And what better way to celebrate than a buttery croissant and blueberry lemon scone from Crumble & Flake bakery on Olive Way in Capitol Hill. Next got to try their kouign amann pastry and macarons. Delicious – just got to get to this cute, tiny corner bakery early – they sell out fast!
